The incumbent’s primary job responsibility will be the management of an assigned Hospital Environmental Services Department or multiple small hospital departments, and the Department Managers assigned to each hospital department.  Specific responsibilities include work scheduling of all department personnel, establishing work standards, conducting site evaluations/audits, overall inventory/equipment usage, budget control, employee performance appraisals, troubleshooting/problem solving, orientation/training of Department Supervisors and support personnel, customer relations, and special project work as requested.  This individual will also ensure that all managed services are being provided in a proper and cost-effective manner.

Directs and oversees operational needs of the EVS Department. Coordinates the tasks of the subordinate supervisory staff. Assures that staff is trained in accordance with The Joint Commission guidelines. Schedules staff to meet the needs of the facility doing so in line with budgetary constraints. The Relations Liaison is expected to proactively maintain high levels of patient satisfaction through continual interaction and development of programs to address needs. Emphasis should concentrate on, but not be limited to, services provided by the Environmental Services Department. Two areas of particular focus are the cleanliness of the room and the courtesy of the person cleaning it. A thorough knowledge of the federal patient satisfaction measurement programs and related tools are essential in the effective performance of these duties.

The Relations Liaison is expected to proactively assist in maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction by focusing on those aspects of customer satisfaction that are typically associated with Environmental Services but facilitating resolution to other issues within our scope of care. Focusing on but not limited to, creating and maintaining a partnership and team environment within the departments throughout the account.

  • Service oriented, with outstanding interpersonal skills, and the ability to creatively problem-solve, influence and educate others, develop and monitor programs is required.
  • Strong computer skills, ability to multi-task and strong organizational skills are essential.
  • The ability to walk and stand for long periods of time.

EDUCATION:

High school diploma or equivalent required, 2 year degree preferred. 2 or more years’ experience in customer service-related field with supervisory/management responsibilities preferred.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Proficient in the use of Windows based office software including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
