To all Environmental Services team members, this week is your week! This Environmental Services Week, on behalf of everyone who works in, has received care in and depends on hospitals, I want to thank you. Thank you for your commitment to saving lives, your passion for pursuing meaningful work, your diligence to ensure every surface is free from infection and your compassion for individuals progressing through a time of pain, stress, and healing. You have made and will continue to make a positive difference in the lives of many.
Thank you to Environmental Services team members who ensure first impression areas such as waiting areas, public restrooms, lobbies, elevators and stairwells are shining and orderly while often being a friendly face offering to point visitors and patients in the right direction.
Thank you to Environmental Services team members who work in fast paced areas such as Emergency and Perioperative. Your teamwork with clinical staff, your hustle, your service, and your unwavering commitment to ensuring that every surface is free of potentially harmful pathogens is critical to patient safety.
Thank you to Environmental Services team members working on inpatient units, providing daily service to ensure the patient space is free of infection and for making our patients feel comfortable, cared for, and connected to the world outside.
Thank you to Environmental Services team members working throughout the hospital keeping our floors shining, stainless glistening and glass free of fingerprints. Thank you to those who remove and haul waste and linen from patient areas, as well as those working in partnership with the House Supervisor to clean and disinfect patient rooms and prepare them for the next admit such that they are safe and ready for healing.
Thank you to Environmental Services team members working through the night diligently completing detailed terminal cleans in sterile areas as well as to those in ambulatory spaces that restock, clean and disinfect exam rooms, nurses’ stations, waiting areas and doctors’ offices.
And thank you to Environmental Services team members keeping the entire engine running smoothly. Thank you to our recruiters who seek out new team members; thank you to our trainers who provide the skills and confidence to complete these important jobs well; thank you to our managers who ensure our frontline team members have the tools, direction and support necessary to be successful; and thank you to our department directors who establish a positive culture, a clear direction and act as the voice of Environmental Services with our clinical partners.
