With a mission to partner with healthcare organizations to help save lives, Xanitos established the Patient Observation Assistants (POA) program, also known as Patient Sitters, to enhance patient safety during hospital stays. The role of the POA is to keep patients safe, by monitoring those classified as safety or suicide risks based on nursing assessments.
By assigning dedicated POAs to monitor these patients, the program allows clinical staff to allocate their resources more efficiently, focusing on direct patient care. This proactive approach improves patient safety and enhances the overall quality of care provided.
Based on an assessment by nursing, Xanitos POAs are assigned to monitor patients who are classified as a safety or suicide risk under the terms of the POA program. This allows the clinical staff to focus their resources on patient care.
The program is designed to meet all regulatory requirements while tailoring our program to meet the needs of our partners. As such, an essential part of the implementation process of our program is working with the clinical team to make adjustments as needed.
Our people are our foundation. We invest in them by providing growth and training opportunities, including our annual Skills Fair training, which was awarded the AORN Seal of Recognition. Educated employees are engaged employees.
All POAs receive BLS and CPR Certification and annual competencies.
